It was a contrast in offensive styles at Wednesday night's Empire Challenge.

Long Island accumulated 257 yards passing and only four rushing while New York City had 268 yards rushing and 108 through the air. Andrew Ris (Carey) matched Trent Crossan (Sachem North) with three receptions, for 51 yards, and also completed a two-point conversion pass as the holder.

The wait is over for Sachem North’s Melissa Michels. The Flaming Arrows sprinter has committed to run at Northeastern University next fall, the school has announced.

Michels holds Sachem North records in the 55, 60, 100, and 200 meter dashes. Last season, she placed fourth in the high school 55 at the Millrose Games in 7.27 seconds, a school record at the time. She was the first Sachem sprinter...

Sachem North boys swimming looks to stay strong

Sachem North's boys swimming team graduated seven seniors, but their squad remains strong, coach Larry Saposnick said.

"The talent is spread out this year," Saposnick said." "I have a strong core and a handful of strong swimmers."
