Hooks, Smith grab the boards in Freeport's big conference win

When Davelle Hooks and Te'Korey Smith attack the glass, Freeport’s tough to beat.

Taylor Calabrese can sense when Taylor Miller is going for a steal.

Nassau boys soccer postseason opening matchups

Four outbracket games kicked off the 2013 Nassau boys' soccer postseason Thursday, featuring Class A wins by Sewanhaka, Lynbrook, Floral Park and Clarke.

All opening round Class A games take place on Oct. 25, as top-seeded Wantagh hosts No. 16 Clarke at 2:30 p.m.

Bethpage, the fifth seed, will host No. 12 Island Trees at 3:30 p.m. Sewanhaka, at No. 13, heads to No. 4 Southside at 7 p.m....

Freeport's fabulous 50th

Freeport is reaching into its rich football heritage this weekend.

The Red Devils are celebrating the 50th anniversary of its 1963 undefeated Rutgers Cup winning team with a reunion dinner at Frank’s Steakhouse in Rockville Centre on Friday night which will be attended by Freeport’s 1963 Thorp Award winner Guy Riccardi and at least 15 of his teammates and their wives.
