Garden City girls fencing has a little bit of everything, from a former county champion to a sophomore duo that evokes memories of Mariano Rivera and John Wetteland.
The defending Nassau champions are led by senior Caitlin Gallant, who won the county individual sabre championship during the 2011-12 season. Gallant, a four-year starter, also made the county semifinals last season.

Last year, the Garden City boys swimming team won the Nassau championship. They're looking to repeat that accomplishment this year.

Four outbracket games kicked off the 2013 Nassau boys' soccer postseason Thursday, featuring Class A wins by Sewanhaka, Lynbrook, Floral Park and Clarke.
All opening round Class A games take place on Oct. 25, as top-seeded Wantagh hosts No. 16 Clarke at 2:30 p.m.

Syosset sophomore Elizabeth Choi won her second straight Nassau Individual Championship, shooting a six-over 77 on Bethpage Yellow Monday and a one-over 72 on Bethpage Green yesterday to finish with a two-day score of 149.
