Gymnastics state qualifier postponed (with bonus preview!)

The Nassau gymnastics state qualifier, slated to be held today in Hicksville at 5 p.m., has been moved to tomorrow, Tuesday, same flippy place, same flippy hour.

Now that we've gotten that bit of housekeeping out of the way, here's a quick primer of what to expect when (if) the snow makes the roads passable on Tuesday.

Massapequa girls volleyball is back in a familiar place.

Undefeated in Conference I and the No. 1 seed in Class AA once again, the Chiefs begin their quest for a 14th straight Nassau County championship today against East Meadow.

After graduating seven seniors each of the last two years the Chiefs had to rely on many new faces this year. The results were constant.

Nassau boys soccer postseason opening matchups

Four outbracket games kicked off the 2013 Nassau boys' soccer postseason Thursday, featuring Class A wins by Sewanhaka, Lynbrook, Floral Park and Clarke.

All opening round Class A games take place on Oct. 25, as top-seeded Wantagh hosts No. 16 Clarke at 2:30 p.m.

Bethpage, the fifth seed, will host No. 12 Island Trees at 3:30 p.m. Sewanhaka, at No. 13, heads to No. 4 Southside at 7 p.m....
