When the shot left Alex Spinelli’s hands, Smithtown East coach Lou Gambeski knew it was good.
With the game on the line, Spinelli knocked down a 16-foot jumper from the top of the key that gave the Bulls’ a 65-63 home win over Comsewogue in the opening round of the Dellecave Invitational Tournament.

The two top contenders in Suffolk League I, for the moment, Ward Melville (6-0) and Smithtown West (7-0), meet Monday at 5 p.m. in a showdown...Read more »

This week, I got to see the human streak, Sydney Pirreca, in action, and spent half that game being afraid to jot anything down in my notebook, because every time I did, she'd zipped to the other side of the field. Mount Sinai = legitimate, opponents take note. Shoutout to their goalie, Julia Michaels, who's the best quote I've had in awhile (hey, it's the little things)....Read more »
Howdy girls lacrosse aficionados! Did you miss us? (Don't answer that. We're sensitive.) For the uninitiated, I'm Laura Albanese, your resident Suffolk girls lacrosse writer. My partner in crime is none other than the inestimable Stephen Haynes, and he'll be covering Nassau. And what is this, you ask? Why, this is 'Girls Who Run (This) World', my Beyonce-inspired ode to the best performances of...Read more »
