JOHN KNIERIEMEN
Bowler of the Year
East Islip

Senior
Knieriemen seemingly made perfection a practice — to the tune of 31 games. His 229.95 average was the highest on Long Island and for most of the year he threatened the single-season record of 232.64, set by Bay Shore’s Jon Trzcinski in 2008. “I’ve had some great ones,” East Islip coach Rick Papandrea said, “but he’s far and away the best player I’ve ever coached . . . He came in with a tremendous amount of talent but was always willing to open himself to advice and polish his game.” Knieriemen ended his high school career with 34 straight league wins and led the Redmen to a state title in 2007-08. His 1,383 series helped them to a second-place finish in this year’s Suffolk championships. He earned his PBA card two weeks ago and turned pro.(Credit: Newsday / Thomas A. Ferrara)
