The senior guard scored a driving layup with 5.3 seconds left to give the Panthers a 56-55 victory over Wheatley for the Long Island Class B title. He led all scorers with 23 points.

The senior swingman scored 10 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter as the Killer Bees defeated Coleman Catholic, 71-55, in the Southeast Regional Class D semifinal.

The freshman scored 22 points as the Quakers beat Stony Brook, 29-25, Thursday to capture their first Long Island Class C title.

He posted a shutout in a 3-0 win over Smithtown /Hauppauge to win the SCHSHL crown. He earned the playoff MVP award.

The senior captain scored two goals as Connetquot/Sayville shut out Smithtown/Hauppauge, 3-0, in Game 2 of the SCHSHL finals. Connetquot swept the series.

SACHEM EAST, BASKETBALL

She had 18 points and 12 rebounds, leading the Flaming Arrows to a 55-50 win over Massapequa in Friday night's Long Island Class AA final.

Gallagher won the state and Federation 600 championships last weekend at Cornell, posting a 1:33.17. She also anchored the defending champion 4 x 400, running a 56.3-second leg to a come-from-behind win in 3:54.95.

RIVERHEAD, TRACK

The junior placed second in the emerging elite pole vault at the New Balance Nationals, jumping 15 feet, 31/2 inches.
