**FINAL**: And one of the best Long Island high school basketball games ever has ended with Hills West winning a 79-75 double-overtime thriller over Elmont.

Sledge finished with a championship-game record 46 points, as Hills won its second straight Long Island Class AA title.

Hills West will play Mount Vernon of Section I at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday in the state semifinals at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Check tomorrow's Newsday for complete coverage of this game.

Thanks for joining us today for a spectacular afternoon of basketball.

**UPDATE**: This game just refuses to end! Elmont went up by three on Dillon Williams' layin off a steal, but Sledge hit a right wing three-pointer with 14.6 seconds left in the first overtime to tie the game at 69.

He has 40 points.

**UPDATE**: Wow, what a game! We're headed to overtime after a Devin Guerre putback of Elechi's missed free throw with 2.5 seconds left in the fourth quarter tied the game at 62.

The refs put 1.3 seconds on the clock after the play, but Sledge couldn't get a shot off before the horn.

Sledge has 33 points, while Elechi has 13 to lead Elmont.

**UPDATE**: After three quarters, defending champ Hills West is clinging to a 45-43 lead. They had a 5-0 run near the end of the quarter (all scored by Sledge) to make it 45-41, but Rahquan Scott's putback closed it to two.

Sledge has 22 points, while Elechi has 11 and Chambers nine to lead the Spartans.

**UPDATE**: At the end of the first half, we're tied at 31. Elmont led most of the second quarter, but Hills closed the period on a 5-0 run, including a three-pointer and a free throw from Chris Kaimis.

Sledge leads the way for Hills with 15 points (and two assists). Anthony Elechi and Chambers each have seven points for Elmont, which is in severe foul trouble.

They were whistled for 11 fouls in the first half. Senat and Tyler Dechalus each have three, while Elechi, the Spartans' leading scorer this season, has two.

Hills West is 9 of 16 from the line, including 5 of 7 from Sledge. Elmont is 4 of 7 from the line.

Welcome back, boys hoops fans!

I'm here at Stony Brook, where Elmont (18-2) and Half Hollow Hills West (17-5) are tied at 17 after the first quarter of the Long Island Class AA title game.

Tavon Sledge (pictured, left) leads the Colts with 11 points, including a nifty scoop shot that was part of a three-point play. Robert Chambers and Greg Senat each have four for the Spartans.

The largest lead for either team in the period was three.
