**FINAL**: Friends is the Long Island Class C champion for the first time since the 2007-08 season with a 54-47 win over Port Jeff. The Quakers outscored Port Jeff 34-14 in the second half.

T.J. Hefele led Friends with 17 points, while Terell Rose scored 18 for Port Jeff.

Friends Academy will play Tuckahoe (Sec. I) in the Southeast regional final at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at Farmingdale State.

Next up is the Class B final between Malverne (18-1) and Mattituck (15-6).

**UPDATE**: Friends went on a 15-2 run to start the third quarter, tying the game at 35. But later, Rose had a three-point play and a three-pointer at the top of the key with 2.8 seconds left to give Port Jeff a 43-38 lead heading into the fourth.


Howdy boys basketball fans, we're here live at SUNY-Old Westbury, where Port Jefferson leads Friends Academy 33-20 at halftime of the Long Island Class C championship game.

Terell Rose (pictured) leads the Royals (14-8) with 12 points, while Anthony Lanieri has chipped in 11. Port Jeff trailed 17-16 with 5:17 to play in the second quarter, but closed the period 17-3 run, including six points from Rose.

T.J. Hefele leads the Quakers (13-4) with seven points. Friends has struggled from the free-throw line, hitting just 1-of-6.
