Suffolk Slant: Top 10

No. 1 Harborfields is playing so well the Tornadoes almost had three players put up triple-doubles in an 86-59 victory over Eastport-South Manor last week. Lucas Woodhouse had 24 points and 16 assists. John Patron scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Justin Ringen scored 13 points and snared nine rebounds. I see Harborfields cruising into the playoffs on a collision course for a Class A championship rematch against Amityville.

Class AA is much more wide open. I wouldn’t be surprised if any of seven teams wound up as county champions. Two of the primary contenders, Hills West and Deer Park, square off Thursday in a much-anticipated rematch of their Jan. 10 meeting, won by the Falcons, 60-59. Deer Park expects an overflow, turn-away crowd for this one, which begins at 5:45 p.m. Get there early. I will.

Some games of interest this week:

Monday – Greenport at Stony Brook, 4:30 p.m.

Tuesday – North Babylon at East Islip, 4 p.m.

Central Islip at Lindenhurst, 6 p.m.

Stony Brook at Greenport, 6:15 p.m.

Thursday --  Half Hollow West at Deer Park, 5:45 p.m.

Amityville at Mt. Sinai, 4:30 p.m.

Friday – Center Moriches at Hampton Bays, 8 p.m.

Lindenhurst at Bay Shore, 6 p.m.
