Newsday runs a full-court press on Long Island high school boys basketball.
No. 1 Harborfields is playing so well the Tornadoes almost had three players put up triple-doubles in an 86-59 victory over Eastport-South Manor last week. Lucas Woodhouse had 24 points and 16 assists. John Patron scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Justin Ringen scored 13 points and snared nine rebounds. All three Long Island teams acquitted themselves well in last weekend’s state tournament, even though only one brought back a championship. As legendary UCLA coach John Wooden used to say, quoting an ancient poet, “The journey is better than the end.”

**FINAL**: Harborfields fought valiantly in the second half, but couldn't overcome Jamesville-Dewitt, losing a 66-51 decision.
The Tornadoes cut it to a 13-point game with back-to-back baskets by McLeod and Fessenden to open the fourth quarter, but J-D went on a 14-0 run in a 2:54 stretch to extend the lead to 64-37.

**FINAL**: Harborfields is moving on to its first state final after a 55-48 win over Byram Hills. Fessenden led the way for the Tornadoes with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Back-to-back three-pointers by Savaglio and Woodhouse gave Harborfields a 50-40 lead with 3:02 to play after Byram Hills closed a 12-point lead to four.

**FINAL**: Harborfields has won the Long Island Class A title for the first time in program history with a 67-49 win over Manhasset.
McLeod led Harborfields with 24 points. Manhasset scored 18 second-half points, and Troia, who finished with 21 points, scored all but four of them.
