High School Boys Basketball
Newsday runs a full-court press on Long Island high school boys basketball.
The times for Saturday's Class A and Class AA Long Island championship games at Hofstra have been changed.
The Class AA game between Suffolk champion Floyd and Nassau champion Baldwin will be at 12:30 p.m. The Class A game between Suffolk champion Harborfields and Nassau champion South Side will be at 3:30 p.m.

The Tornadoes cut it to a 13-point game with back-to-back baskets by McLeod and Fessenden to open the fourth quarter, but J-D went on a 14-0 run in a 2:54 stretch to extend the lead to 64-37.

Khalid Samuels, who led the Knights with 16 points, knocked down two free throws with 1:04 remaining to give Mount Vernon a 65-57 lead.

Back-to-back three-pointers by Savaglio and Woodhouse gave Harborfields a 50-40 lead with 3:02 to play after Byram Hills closed a 12-point lead to four.

The playoffs are right around the corner, and the jockeying for seeding has made for some down-to-the-wire conference action.
Where do we stand in Nassau? Well, St. Mary's (still the only undefeated team on the Island) and Lutheran keep rolling. In the publics, Baldwin looks like the favorite, although the Bruins play in the weakest of the three Class AA conferences.
