Irvington girls basketball team wins State Federation Tournament title
The Irvington High School girls basketball team added to its dynasty Sunday, beating Catholic state champ Cardinal O’Hara 65-48 in the State Federation Tournament of Champions’ Class B title game in Albany.
The Bulldogs (24-2) have won the title three of the past four seasons. On March 16, Irvington captured its fourth consecutive New York State Public High School Athletic Association championship by routing Waterloo 78-40.
In Sunday’s win, Lexi Martins led the Bulldogs with 22 points and 18 rebounds. Brittini Lai added 15 points, eight assists and six steals.
Irvington’s latest title caps a magical run for the team’s seniors -- Martins, Lai, Ryan McMahon and Alyssa DiCampli -- who won 105 games during their four years.
