Simonetti's last-second layup lifts East Islip

Michael Simonetti's layup with 12 seconds left gave East Islip a one-point lead en route to a 52-49 win over Smithtown East Tuesday in Suffolk League III boys basketball.

Simonetti scored 21 points and Brian Philbin's two free throws with a second left created the final margin for East Islip. Brandon Macmorris added 13 points.

Floyd 42, Sachem East 41: Devin Burney beat the shot clock with a three-pointer with 36 seconds left to give Floyd a 42-40 lead. Burney had nine points, six rebounds and five assists to lead the Colonials in League I. Devonte Dixon also scored nine points.

Huntington 65, Copiague 59: Kiernan McGovern scored 22 points, and Patrick Reilly added 20 points and seven rebounds to lead Huntington in League IV. The Blue Devils rallied from down 15 points after the first quarter. Bayport-Blue Point 55, Shoreham-Wading River 48: Dylan Adams scored 19 points, including four three-pointers, to lead Bayport-Blue Point in League VI. Dalton Prendergast added 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Lucas Jenks had nine points and 14 rebounds.Amityville 64, Glenn 50: Andy Laurent and Mike Smith each scored 19 points to lead Amityville in League VI.

Mount Sinai 48, Miller Place 39: Michael Guzzardi had 22 points and 12 rebounds for Mt. Sinai in League VI.Babylon 57, Wyandanch 42: Ray Wardell scored 19 points to lead Babylon in League VII. Fernando Vazquez added 17 points and Jake Carlock had 11 rebounds.Calhoun 68, Elmont 62: Brian Downey scored 20 points to lead Calhoun in Nassau Conference AA-III. Tommy Murphy added 13 points.

Baldwin 73, East Meadow 60: Senior Mike Butler scored a career-high 21 points for Baldwin in AA-II. Eric Mack added 20 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks. Hicksville 44, Plainview JFK 36: Tracy Timque had 10 points, eight steals and seven rebounds for Hicksville in AA-II.

Valley Stream North 43, West Hempstead 37: Dana Morgante had 14 points and five assists for Valley Stream North in A-IV.

Miller Place 42, Mount Sinai 38: Rachel Hayes had 19 points and seven rebounds, and Danielle Nook added six points and 12 rebounds for Miller Place in Suffolk League VI.Shoreham-Wading River 47, Bayport Blue-Point 35: Courtney Clasen had 12 points, nine rebounds, five assists, four blocks and four steals for SWR in League VI. The win was coach Dennis Haughney's 100th career victory.

Smithtown West 49, Centereach 33: Melissa Meyers had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead Smithtown West in League III. Long Island Lutheran 67, Mount Vernon 40: Boogie Brozoski had 22 points, six assists and three steals to lead Long Island Lutheran a in non-league game. Staci Barrett added 19 points and 10 rebounds.
