When Tidell Pierre scored the first eight points for Hempstead in its boys basketball game Monday, Tigers coach Ted Adams knew his senior swingman was in for a big game.

Pierre went on to score a career-high 49 points as Hempstead topped Syosset, 85-59, in a Nassau Conference AA-I contest.

Pierre scored 19 of his 49 points in the fourth quarter when Hempstead outscored the Braves, 33-14.
