Congresswoman Nita Lowey to open new office in Rockland County
Congresswoman Nita Lowey is getting to know her new constituents across the Hudson River.
The veteran Democratic lawmaker is opening a new office in Rockland County this Sunday, from 1 p.m to 3 p.m., at 340 Route 304 in Bardonia.
Lowey, 75, is running for her 13th term. Statewide redistricting cost her much of southern Westchester County -- an area she has represented since 1988, most recently as the 18th District Congresswoman -- but expanded to include parts of Rockland County.
She faces a challenge from Republican Joe Carvin, 57, the Rye Town supervisor, in the Nov. 6 elections.
Tthe 17th Congressional District's new lines won't be official until Jan. 1, 2013.
