Westchester reaches settlement in Rye Playland death of Gariela Garin

Westchester County has reached a settlement with the family of a Rye Playland worker killed on a ride at the historic amusement park.

The family of Gabriela Garin will receive $275,000 from the county and $425,000 from the amusement company that owns the ride she died on.

Garin was killed after being thrown from the "Mind Scrambler" at Rye Playland back in June 2007. She left behind a 2-year-old daughter.

The county board of legislators still has to approve the settlement.
