STEPHEN JAHELKA
Nassau Player of the Year
Garden City, Defense, Sr.
Playing with torn ligaments in his right ankle, the unanimous two-time All-American was still the heart and soul of a Trojans defense that allowed only 35 goals in seven playoff games. “That's the kind of leader he is,’’ Trojans coach Steve Finnell said of the 6-1, 205-pounder, who tallied a goal, five assists and 71 ground balls on the season. He anchored the defense for the two-time Long Island Class B champs, who this season came within a double-overtime goal of a state title. Also a first-team All-Long Island football player, he will play on the lacrosse field at Harvard next year.(Credit: Newsday/Thomas A. Ferrara)
