Farmingdale (16-4) vs. Ithaca (19-1)

State Class A final, 11 a.m. on Saturday at Cicero-North Syracuse High

The Dalers have been magnificent in the playoffs, especially on offense. Farmingdale’s run-and-gun attack, led by Sal Tuttle and Korey Hendrickson, is averaging 14 goals per game. They’ve been aggressive on ground balls and faceoffs, too, a key reason they ended West Islip’s two-year, 40-game winning streak in the LIC. Defenseman Joe Ostrander, who has scored a goal in each of the last two games with his long stick, is one of the best and hardest hitting defenseman in the state. Coach Bob Hartranft has won 653 games but is still seeking his first state title.

Ithaca survived a double-overtime, low-scoring thriller, beating previously unbeaten Pittsford, 6-5, on Wednesday, on midfielder Joe Bucci’s third goal of the game. It put the Little Red into the state title game for the first time in school history. Ithaca had lost in the state semifinals for the past two years.

Garden City (19-2) vs. Jamesville-DeWitt (21-0)

State Class B final, 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Cicero-North Syracuse High

The Trojans have won 15 in a row by a combined 178-46. Jamesville-DeWitt, winner of two of the last four titles, has won 43 straight, including an 11-5 win over Garden City in last year's final.

J-D's defense has allowed only 74 goals in 21 games (3.52 per contest). Three Division I recruits lead the unit -- Davi Sacco (Virginia), longstick middie Matt Kopp (Binghamton), and Nick Firman (Mount St. Mary's). All-America goalie Dan DiStefano (Vermont) has a save percentage over .700, and Tim Edwards (Canisius) has won nearly 80 percent of his draws, an area GC struggled in Wednesday's semifinal.

J-D midfielder Jordan Evans is one of the country's top sophomores. He leads the Red Rams with 100 points (55 goals, 45 assists). Junior attack Deke Burns has scored 64 goals, and Syracuse-bound middie Alex Hatem 39.

GC is 4-2 all-time in state finals, with the last win coming in 2000.

Bayport-Blue Point (13-5) vs. Cazenovia (21-1)

State Class C final, 4 p.m. on Saturday at Cicero-North Syracuse High

What a ride it’s been for the Phantoms and their nine-year-old program. First county title? Check. First Long Island championship? Check. Now it’s their first shot at a state title after a sensational rally late Wednesday night. The Phantoms erased an 8-5 deficit entering the fourth quarter with four unanswered goals, the last by Josh Shaw, who also scored the game-winner in the county final vs. Mount Sinai. “This team doesn’t have big stars but it has a big heart,” coach Mike Luce said. Mike DeBlasio has been blazing with five assists Wednesday, five goals and three assists in the LIC, and a hat trick in the Suffolk final.

Cazenovia outlasted Silver Creek, 15-13, in its semifinal on Wednesday. It’s a high-scoring team that averages 16 goals a game led by the Cannizzaro brothers, Connor (80 goals, 35 assists) and Sean (47 goals, 53 assists).
