Garden City wins in 2nd OT


Tom Gordon took a pass from Devin Dwyer and scored 52 seconds into the second overtime as Garden City edged Comsewogue, 9-8, on Tuesday to win its first Long Island Class B championship since 2000.

Gordon, who scored four goals, shot high to the right corner for the game-winner that ended a four-game losing streak for the Trojans in the Long Island championship game. Dwyer had five assists.

Garden City, the Nassau Class B champ, is 17-3 and will face Niskayuna on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in the New York State Class B semifinal at Hofstra. Tom Cleary had three goals for Comsewogue, the Suffolk Class B champion which finished 17-2.
