Manhasset back in Class C final

Hats off to Manhasset. A trio of hat tricks helped the Indians easily defeat Putnam Valley, 13-4, Thursday night in a state Class C semifinal boys lacrosse game played at Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium.

Pat Moroney, his brother, Quinn, and Matt Tompkins each scored three goals as Manhasset (19-0) extended its state-best winning streak to 35 games. The Indians led 11-1 after three quarters and removed most of its starters at that point.

Manhasset, the defending state champion, will face Corning East on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Stony Brook University’s LaValle Stadium in the state championship game. Putnam Valley of Section 1 finished 18-5.
