'Showcase' a good show
It was Showtime at the Dowling College Brookhaven sports complex on Thursday night. More than 40 college coaches lined the sidelines to watch the Long Island Lacrosse Showcase, a Nassau-vs.-Suffolk tripleheader.
Nassau won the Rising Sophomores (Class of 2014) game, 7-6. Suffolk won the Rising Juniors (Class of 2013) contest, 8-7, as Tim Rotanz of Shoreham-Wading River scored his fourth goal on a wraparound with 3.7 seconds left in the first overtime period.
In the featured game for Rising Seniors (Class of 2012), Sam Llinares of Hauppauge scored three goals to lead Suffolk to an 11-7 victory. Christopher Appell of Locust Valley scored three goals for Nassau.
