West Islip wins 20 with 20

West Islip matched its win streak – 20 games – with its scoring output: 20 goals.

The Lions beat Lakeland/Panas, 20-10, Thursday night in a state Class A boys lacrosse semifinal game at Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium. Rob Moore had five goals, Andrew Hodgson had four goals and four assists, and Matt Gebhardt added a hat trick.

West Islip (20-1) took 59 shots and won its 20th straight game. It plays Fairport (19-2) in the state Class A final at 4 p.m. Saturday at Stony Brook’s LaValle Stadium. Fairport beat Ithaca, 8-6, in the other semifinal. Lakeland/Panas finishes 17-4.

Nick Galasso had two goals and two assists.
