As seen on MSG Varsity's SportsDesk last week, here are the 14 boys selected by Newsday to the 2011 All Long Island boys lacrosse first team.
Team photos, bios, and the announcement of the player of the year in each county will be in the special high school All Long Island selection, which comes out on Sunday, June 26.
Also in that issue will be a complete second team.

Twelve of the 22 players selected for the Under Armour All American North Team are from Long Island.
Of the 12, five are from Suffolk, three from Nassau and four play in the CHSAA (two from Chaminade, two from St. Anthony's). There are four defenders, four middies, two attacks and two goalies.

The Suffolk public school playoffs are about to begin – Class A opens Thursday; Class B on Friday; Class C next week. So how about one final set of regular-season rankings. West Islip’s winning streak is now at 36 straight after the Lions rallied in the second half to defeat East Islip, 11-7. West Islip is 15-0 this season and should earn the top seed in the Class A playoffs as it chases its third straight state title. Matt Schultz had three goals and three assists and Craig Madarasz scored a goal and won 11 of 12 faceoffs to lead Smithtown West to a 16-1 victory over Lindenhurst Wednesday in a Suffolk Division I boys lacrosse game. Ryan Keenan tallied two goals and two assists for the Bulls (8-1).

West Islip’s winning streak is at 32 after victories over Ward Melville (a 7-6 overtime thriller) last Wednesday and rallying from an 8-2 victory to defeat stubborn Northport, 11-9.

Look who is back on top? And did they ever really leave?
It was a statement week for two-time defending state Class A champion West Islip. First, the Lions defeated Sachem North, the team that handed them its last loss on opening day of the 2010 season. Then West Islip defeated Newsday’s No. 1-ranked team, Chaminade, 8-7, in a defensive battle on Saturday.
