Chaminade's reign on top of Long Island lacrosse was short-lived, as the Flyers dropped an 8-7 decision at West Islip on Saturday.
But its reign atop Nassau will not end that quickly. After all, there's no shame in losing to a team that has now won 27 straight games.

Garden City came into the season as the rightful owner of the Nassau throne, but has since been unseated by Chaminade, which is off to a phenomenal start.
The Trojans' 10-7 loss to Ward Melville, coupled with the Flyers' 10-5 win over rival St. Anthony's, did the trick.

Here's the penultimate Nassau Top 10 list in advance of Tuesday's LIC games at Hofstra. This is the final week of the season for all teams. The LIC winners advance to the downstate state semifinals on Thursday at Hofstra. State finals are then Saturday at Stony Brook. Manhasset takes on Cold Spring Harbor, Wantagh faces Garden City and Farmingdale plays Massapequa in a tripleheader Wednesday afternoon and night at Hofstra. All three games are rematches of regular season meetings, which were won by Manhasset, Wantagh, and Farmingdale. But this is playoff time. Throw those results out the window.
