There was no euphoric celebration or a pile at midfield. It seemed like just another win.
For Port Jefferson, it was just another step towards a goal that was set in the summer and the Royals are two wins away from it.
Blake Bohlen scored his 30th goal of the season with 11:43 left in the game to give Port Jefferson a 2-1 win over Rhinebeck Tuesday in the Class C Southeast Regional boys soccer final at Diamond in the Pines.
Port Jefferson (19-0), the defending state champions, will play Williamson at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at Middletown High School in the state semifinals. Port Jefferson played without Vincent Antonelli, who had to sit by rule for getting two yellow cards in the previous game.
"We're not satisfied unless we win states," Bohlen said. "This is just a step closer to our main goal. We have played four games in five days so we get a nice three-day rest."
Casey Abelein played a ball into the box and Bohlen got to a loose ball to score the winner. Reiner Scheurich scored in the 26th minute before Rhinebeck tied the score with 18:34 left in the game.
Five minutes later, Port Jefferson goalkeeper Gabe Davis made a diving save off a blast on a breakway.
"I got myself in position and waited for him to shoot," Davis said. "It was a reaction save."
