Frank Merkelin's goal gives Massapequa win

Frank Merkelin scored off an assist from Conor Tierney 10 minutes into the game to lift Massapequa (12-1-0) to a 1-0 win over Syosset Thursday in Nassau Conference AA-I boys soccer. Dan Vittielo had six saves in the shutout, including a late stop to preserve the win.

Sayville 2, Eastport-South Manor 0: Chris Carroll scored off a feed from Justin Siracusa midway through the second half and Matt Lesingher added a goal with six minutes remaining for Sayville (11-0) in Suffolk League V.

Harborfields 2, Islip 1: Kian Khajooei scored the winning goal off of a scramble in the box with 10 minutes left in the game to lead Harborfields (3-7) in League V. Khajooei also scored the tying goal six minutes into the second half off a pass from Mike McDonagh.GIRLS SOCCER

Patchogue-Medford 2, Floyd 0: Erika Flowers scored the winning goal off a corner kick with 5:36 left in the first overtime to lead PM (5-5-1) in League I. Flowers added a goal three minutes later from 25 yards.

East Islip 2, Smithtown West 0: Kayla Saager and Kayla Roundsman each scored to lead East Islip (9-2) in League III.Calhoun 1, Mepham 0: Caroline Criscuola scored in the sixth minute, off an assist from Kayla Cappuzzo. Alissa Battaglia made 13 saves to lead Calhoun (7-4-2) in Nassau I-AA.

Bayport-Blue Point 2, West Islip 1: Annie Caminiti scored the winning goal in strokes to lead BBP (7-5) in Suffolk II. Clara Bates tied the game with 1:46 left in regulation off an assist from Caminiti. Juliana Barrasso made eight saves.
