You didn't really think Nick Hytell would let the season come down to penalty kicks, did you?

Hytell scored off a cross from John Aydogan with 10 seconds left in the second golden goal overtime to lift Carle Place to a 2-1 win Friday over Rhinebeck in the Class B Southeast Regional boys soccer final at Middletown.

"My thoughts were already on who would be taking penalty kicks because I knew it was almost over," Carle Place coach Allen Foraker said. "All of a sudden to see the back of that net moving, it was very exciting."

Pat Browne scored the tying goal off a cross from George Costidis with 29 minutes left. Carle Place (16-0-1) advances to the state semifinals Nov. 16 in Middletown, for just the second time in program history.
