Chris Hood pitches one-hitter with 12 Ks to boost Oceanside

Chris Hood struck out 12 and walked one in a one-hitter as Oceanside shut out Uniondale, 10-0, in a Nassau Conference AA-1/AA-II crossover baseball game Monday.

Hood lost his no-hit bid on a single with two outs in the seventh inning. Brian Lau and Jason Weiner each had two hits and two RBIs for Oceanside (2-0).

Hicksville 3, Farmingdale 1: Ron Bauer struck out seven with no walks in a one-hitter for Hicksville (3-0) in a Nassau Conference AA-I/AA-II crossover.

Elmont 4, Mepham 3: Danny Aguilo struck out nine, gave up seven hits and one earned run in a complete game for Elmont (1-2) in a Nassau Conference AA-III/AA-IV crossover. Malik Todd had a three-run homer in the win.

North Shore 4, Garden City 3: Thomas Aufiero's infield single in the bottom of the seventh won it for North Shore (1-0) in a Conference A-I/A-V crossover. Tim Maxwell struck out five in six innings and Billy Bianco had an RBI single in the win.

Cold Spring Harbor 5, Carle Place 1: Jack Walter tossed a two-hitter and struck out five to lead Cold Spring Harbor (1-0) in Conference B/C. Luke Berlinghof drove in Jesse Mulham in the bottom of the fifth to give Cold Spring Harbor a 3-0 lead.

Bay Shore 5, Lindenhurst 4: Dylom Cruz's RBI single, his first varsity hit, with two outs in the bottom of the seventh won it for Bay Shore (3-0) in Suffolk League II. Jake Stein tossed three scoreless innings of relief for his first varsity win and Chris Dannenfelfer had three hits in the victory.

Ward Melville 2, William Floyd 0: Nick Vitale's two-out double scored Billy Theiss and Ryan Shields in the bottom of the third inning for Ward Melville (2-1) in League I. Chris Cepeda pitched a two-hitter, striking out six and walking two.

Patchogue-Medford 3, Brentwood 1: Zach Genaway hit a two-run single in the bottom of the third to lift Patchogue-Medford (2-1) in League I. Andrew Garcia struck out five, walked two and gave up four hits in six innings for the win.

St. John the Baptist 11, Chaminade 1: Chris Lemorocco struck out eight and surrendered two hits in six innings to lift St. John the Baptist (1-0) in CHSAA. Dylan Steigerwald and Andrew Libertelli each had two hits and scored two runs and Brian McLaughlin hit a grand slam for the Cougars. SOFTBALL

Connetquot 16, Half Hollow Hills East 5: Angela Schuler hit for the cycle and had two RBIs to lead Connetquot (2-0) in Suffolk League II. Erin Sweeney allowed two hits and an unearned run in six innings.

Miller Place 12, Westhampton 0: Taylor Ludewig and Sage Biamonte each went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead Miller Place (1-0) in League VI.

Baldwin 5, Carey 3: Jessica Pulis went 2-for-3 with a solo home run for Baldwin (4-0) in non-league. Pulis struck out two, walked four and allowed six hits for the victory.

Farmingdale 13, Valley Stream Central 0: Michelle Duddy pitched a one-hitter, striking out nine and walking two for Farmingdale in non-league. Michelle Marino (five RBIs) and Christina Caravella each homered in the win.

Seaford 12, Long Beach 4: Lindsay Montemarano hit a grand slam and had five RBIs for Seaford (5-0) in non-league. Courtney Carbone added a solo homer and five RBIs and Sophie finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
