2011 All-Long Island boys cross country

The top runners on Long Island this fall, as selected by Newsday's Marcus Henry.

Awad was able to reach many of the goals this season, among them was winning the CHSAA Nassau-Suffolk League championship at Sunken Meadow. He followed that up with a second-place finish at the CHSAA Intersectional. He then took third place at the NYS Federation championships and eighth at the Nike New York Regional. Awad helped the Flyers to a third-place finish at the CHSAA Intersectional as well as a second-place finish at the Nassau-Suffolk League championships.

In addition to winning the Nassau state qualifier, Bourguet was the Nassau Conference III champion, took 14th at the NYSPHSAA Class B state championship and finished 21st at the Federation, second among LI public school runners.

Few runners were as consistent as Colabella, who won the Suffolk Coaches Invitational and the Suffolk Class A state qualifier. He was also a winner at the Suffolk Division championships.

Whitman, Jr.
Damato finished seventh at the Suffolk Division championships, took 17th at the NYSPHSAA Class A state championships — second among LI runners— and was fourth at the Suffolk state qualifier.

St. Anthony's, Sr.
Diliberto emerged as one of the top CHSAA runners in the state. He won the St. Anthony's invititational, finished fourth at the CHSAA Intersectional and was 17th out of 159 runners at the Nike New York Regional.

LaFemina finished eighth at the Suffolk Division championships, took second at the Suffolk state qualifier, 12th at the Class B state championship and finished among the top 100 at Federations.

Moran capped a fine season, taking 15th at the Federation, which was first among LI public school runners. He finished second at the Suffolk Division championships and second at the Suffolk state qualifier.

In addition to winning the Nassau Conference I championship, Titcomb ran to a second-place finish at the Nassau state qualifier and took 31st — fourth among LI runners— at the Class A state championship.
