The Nassau Cross Country Championships, scheduled for yesterday at Eisenhower Park, were canceled, according to Nina Van Erk, Executive Director of Section VIII, Nassau's governing body.

"The meet was canceled because Eisenhower Park is closed to the public," Van Erk said.

An email was sent to Nassau athletic directors late Wednesday to gauge interest in rescheduling the meet for sometime next week, according to Van Erk.

The original meet, scheduled for Nov. 3, was canceled because of superstorm Sandy. Using merged results from the conference championships, held on Oct. 27, Nassau sent the top three teams and five fastest individual runners to last Saturday's state meet in Elma, New York.

Manhasset's Stephen Bourguet was the top Long Island finisher on Saturday, finishing sixth in the Class B individual race.

Bourguet ran the 5k in 16 minutes, 6.3 seconds, according to NYSPHSAA results.
