1. EAST ISLIP BOYS BOWLING

There's a new No. 1 in the BIG 10. John Kavanaugh rolled a 239 in the sixth and final game of a 1,238 series to help the Redmen (14-0) capture a state title at Strike 'N Spare Lanes in Syracuse. East Islip bowled its best series (1,084) in Game 6 of a 5,985 series to win their second state title in three years. Fulton was second with a 5,814 series.

2. HALF HOLLOW HILLS BOYS SWIMMING

The Thundercolts won their ninth consecutive Suffolk title. Hills was led by senior James Gordin, who won the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events and was named the meet MVP. Sophomore Alex Park qualified for the state meet in the 200-yard individual medley.

3. WARD MELVILLE BOYS FENCING

Danny Solomon went 3-0 in sabre and Mike Antipas went 2-0 in foil to lead the Patriots (15-0) in their 14-9 win over Great Neck North for the Long Island crown. Ward Melville won its eighth straight LI title and 124th consecutive match.

4. HAUPPAUGE WRESTLING

The Eagles captured their first Suffolk Division I Tournament team title since 1999. Three of the Eagles wrestlers were successful in the state tournament. Freshman Jake Silverstein was a state runner-up at 106, junior Chris Mauriello was sixth at 160 and senior Francisco Bisono placed third at 170.

5. BRENTWOOD BOYS BASKETBALL

Michael Almonacy has averaged 20 points per game during the playoffs for the Indians, who captured the Suffolk Class AA title and the Suffolk overall championship. Vincent Smythe has emerged as one of Long Island's top defenders. Jamel Allen, Ali Mableton and Tavon Ginyard continue to thrive in the offense that calls for players to make the extra pass. The Indians will face Baldwin in the Long Island Class AA championship at 5 p.m. Saturday at Farmingdale State.

6. BAY SHORE GIRLS TRACK

Aviana Goode finished third in the high jump at the New York State Championships last weekend, clearing 5-5, one inch off East Islip's Faith Penny's winning jump. Goode also was fourth in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.44 seconds.

7. ST. ANTHONY'S BOYS TRACK

Pat Tucker finished fourth in the 1,600 meters at the New York State Championships in 4:22.48. Teammate Ryan Dearie was sixth in 4:24.86.

8. WARD MELVILLE GIRLS FENCING

Ilana Solomon and Carly Weber-Levine went 2-0 in sabre and Angela Zhang went 2-0 in foil to lead the Patriots (14-1) over Great Neck North, 14-2, for the Long Island championship. It is Ward Melville's 13th consecutive title.

9. LONG ISLAND LUTHERAN GIRLS BASKETBALL

The Crusaders hit their stride in midseason and have won 10 straight in dominant fashion, including a 56-35 win over Red Bank Catholic (N.J.) on Feb. 28. Lutheran is the reigning state Federation Class AA champ and will have a chance to defend its title in the Federation tournament, which begins March 27 in Albany.

10. BALDWIN BOYS BASKETBALL

Behind 19 points from Daraja Rodwell, who led the county in three-pointers, and Paul Nosworthy's dominance inside the paint, the Bruins beat Uniondale, 53-45, in the Nassau Class AA championship.
