Sayville to host cancer benefit Saturday
On Saturday (Oct. 3), the Sayville field hockey team will host its second annual “Pink Day” game to raise funding for breast cancer research and awareness.
There will be no admission fee for the 10 a.m. game, of course. But the school will have a bake sale and raffles, the money from which will be donated to the Islip Breast Cancer Coalition.
According to the National Cancer Institute, approximately 184,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed each year and 41,000 people will die from it this year.
So, go for the cause – and the pastries – and stay for the game. The Golden Flashes (5-0) will take on defending Class C Long Island champion Port Jefferson.
