Matt Barbaro's 2-yard touchdown run with eight seconds remaining lifted East Rockaway over Carle Place, 28-25, yesterday in Nassau IV football.
Barbaro rushed for 126 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Rocks (2-3). ç ran for 82 yards, including a 35-yard TD that pulled East Rockaway within 25-20 in the third quarter. Carle Place is 1-4.
North Shore 32, Malverne 22: Joe ç completed 9 of 13 passes for 210 yards and four TDs to lead North Shore (2-3). Floccari connected with John Lennon, who ran a slant pattern, for a 20-yard touchdown to put North Shore ahead 12-6 with 6:23 left in the second quarter. With Malverne threatening near the red zone, cornerback Josh Schwartz stripped the ball from a Malverne running back, recovered the fumble and ran it back 77 yards for a touchdown with 5:01 left in the second, which gave North Shore a 20-6 lead.
Roosevelt 33, Mineola 0: Johnnie Akins had 20 carries for 212 yards and three touchdowns for Roosevelt (5-0) in Nassau IV. Rob Hansen scored on a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs and also had seven tackles. Raymond Jones added five tackles. Mineola falls to 2-3.
Valley Stream North 22, Island Trees 7: Joe Ruscillo was 5-for-8 for 203 yards and three touchdowns to lead Valley Stream North (4-1) in Nassau IV. The defense was led by Chris Case, who made eight tackles, and Mike DiRico, who had eight tackles and a fumble recovery. Island Trees falls to 2-3.
Locust Valley 40, Cold Spring Harbor 7: Jordan Formicola and wide receiver Louie Jokinsky connected for three touchdowns to lead Locust Valley (4-1) over Cold Spring Harbor (0-5) in Conference IV. Formicola found Jokinsky for an 18-yard score with 3:31 left in the first quarter on Locust Valley's first possession. Linebacker John Piscitello led Locust Valley with four tackles.
Clarke 42, Oyster Bay 21: Peter Falgiano ran for 74 yards and scored three three touchdowns in the first quarter to lead Clarke (3-2) in Nassau IV. Nestor Haddo rushed for 100 yards, including a 65-yard TD. Luis Hungria added 78 rushing yards and a score. John Dell'Olio had an interception.
