Barry's punt return for TD spurs Floral Park win

Free safety Brian Barry returned a punt 58 yards for a touchdown with 9:15 remaining in the third quarter to put Floral Park up by seven en route to a 24-9 win over Hewlett in Nassau III.

Conor Vidasolo picked off a pass and ran it back 36 yards for a touchdown for Floral Park's last score with 5:24 remaining. Conor Horan led the defense with 12 tackles and his brother Cole added nine tackles. Alec Ascani had eight tackles and one sack and Frank Finochio had six tackles.

Sewanhaka 35, Division 14: Elijah Smith's 64-yard interception return for a touchdown gave Sewanhaka (3-3) its first lead at 21-14 with 1:24 left in the half. Smith's second score came on a 75-yard punt return that made it a two-touchdown game midway through the third quarter. Jake Mellen completed 8 of 16 passes for 226 yards and a touchdown. Bethpage 38, Manhasset 0: Michael Sforza ran for 84 yards and two TDs and had two receptions for 38 yards and a TD to lead Bethpage (5-1) over Manhasset (1-5). Yoannis Efstathiou had 13 carries for 71 yards and a TD. Christian Ferruzza was 3-for-5 for 52 yards and a TD and ran for 32 yards.

Plainedge 47, Valley Stream South 0: Gianfranco Soriente rushed for 90 yards on six carries and two TDs and added a 9-yard TD reception to lead Plainedge (5-1). Nick Frenger completed 7 of 10 passes for 78 yards and two TDs. Joe Carabott, who ran for 50 yards and a TD on two carries, ran back a kickoff 95 yards to open the second half scoring.

Nestor Haddo rushed for 140 yards and two TDs on four carries to lead Clarke to a 35-14 win over East Rockaway in Conference IV. Aaron Dawson's 6-yard TD run with 1:05 left in the second quarter gave Clarke (4-2) a 21-7 halftime lead. Quarterback Peter Falgiano ran for 69 yards and two TDs on eight carries.

Malverne 20, Valley Stream North 13: Jamal Aaron Hill's 60-yard TD run on Malverne's opening drive of the third quarter gave the Mules (3-3) a 20-7 lead. Brian Carroll's 23-yard TD reception from Joe Ruscillo got Valley Stream North (4-2) to within 20-13 late in the third quarter. Kevin Young recovered a fumble at Malverne's 35-yard line in the fourth quarter to help keep the Mules in front. James Hannafin and Kyle Richard each had eight tackles.

West Hempstead 42, Locust Valley 14: Enrique McFarlane had 12 carries for 138 yards and two TDs to lead West Hempstead (5-1) over Locust Valley. Bruce Gibbs added 115 yards and two TDs on 12 carries. Akil Philip's 36-yard TD reception from Anthony Beabrun capped a 28-0 second half for the Rams. Donovan Steele had seven tackles.

Mineola 47, Cold Spring Harbor 0: Vinny Bienek threw for 87 yards and a TD on eight attempts to lead Mineola (3-3). Midway through the first quarter, Bienek threw a pass to Justin Oommen for a 19-yard TD, giving Mineola a 7-0 lead. Ryan Eccher rushed for 108 yards and a TD on 10 carries. Zach Vega rushed for two touchdowns and Mike Sullivan added another.

Carle Place/Wheatley 34, Oyster Bay 14: Lucas Golon ran for 203 yards and two TDs on 14 carries, including a 55-yards score in the third, to lead Carle Place/Wheatley (2-4). Andrew Hastings threw a curlout pass to Luke Serio, who broke a tackle and ran 65 yards for a touchdown with six minutes remaining in the first quarter for a 14-7 lead. Zach Farmiloe had 13 tackles and two sacks.

Roosevelt 41, Island Trees 7: Johnnie Atkins ran for 264 yards on 35 carries and scored two TDs to lead Roosevelt (6-0). Rob Hansen found Justin Terry on a third-and-12 with two minutes left in the first quarter for a 13-0 lead.
