Chris Gabriel's four TDs carry Mepham past Herricks, 41-12

Chris Gabriel had 24 carries for 147 yards and four TDs, including a 4-yard score that broke a tie at 12 with nine minutes left in the third quarter to lift Mepham (4-4) in a 41-12 win over Herricks (2-6) in Nassau II Saturday.

Gabriel's 4-yard score capped an eight-play, 55-yard drive to open the second half. Chris Durkin had nine tackles and a fumble recovery, and Ian Avanzato had seven tackles.

Elmont 30, Calhoun 14: Paul Jean scored on a wide receiver reverse from 29 yards with nine minutes left in the third to break a tie at 14 for Elmont (4-4). Reggie Pierre got his second TD catch of the day on a 60-yard pass from Mike Braun with three minutes left in the third. Pierre finished with 90 yards and two scores on four catches, and Braun was 9-for-16 for 150 yards and three scores. Calhoun is 1-7.

Westbury 46, New Hyde Park 32: Shalike Merchant had 160 yards and two rushing touchdowns on nine carries to lead Westbury (2-6) on Friday night. Merchant scored on runs of 45 and 50 yards in the second half to make the score 43-18. Malique Merchant had eight carries for 153 yards and a touchdown, Khalid Davis had 13 carries for 75 yards and two scores and Rayon Scarlett five carries for 45 yards and two touchdowns for Westbury. Scarlett led the defense with 10 tackles. New Hyde Park is 1-7.

Carey 28, Bellmore JFK 7: Ray Catapano ran for 102 yards and two scores and threw for 58 yards and two TDs, including a 14-yarder to Matt Robinson with 7:01 left in the second quarter to give Carey (6-2) a 14-7 lead. Conor Colasurdo rushed for 113 yards on eight carries and made six tackles. Bellmore is 3-5.

Wantagh 41, Long Beach 7: Brandon Watson rushed for 131 yards and scored three first-half touchdowns to lead Wantagh (6-2). Billy Carmen carried four times for 49 yards and two touchdowns and Roddy Roche completed three of four passes for 101 yards and a touchdown. Nick English led the defense with seven tackles.
