St. John the Baptist running back Christian Turri didn't touch the ball much Sunday, but when he did, everyone noticed.

Turri ran for 176 yards and three touchdowns on four carries for No. 6 St. John the Baptist in a 52-6 win over third-seeded Holy Trinity in a CHSFL quarterfinal.

Turri scored on runs of 33, 60 and 70 yards for St. John the Baptist (8-1). But it wasn't just about the offense for the Cougars.

"Our defense has been stepping up all year," St. John the Baptist coach Keith Schweers said. "We had two interception returns, including one by a defensive lineman."

Defensive tackle Jackson Moses, who had eight tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery, returned the pick 60 yards for a score that gave SJB a 39-0 lead. "Moses really creates havoc from the defensive line position," Schweers said. "He occupies at least two guys."

Jake Wiswall had nine tackles, 1 1/2 sacks and a fumble recovery. Lawson Prendegrast added 15 tackles and a sack, and Charles Lloyd had nine tackles. Matthew Sutton scored on a 60-yard interception return in the first quarter for SJB, which will play No. 4 Kellenberg in a CHSFL AA semifinal on Saturday.
