Newsday goes deep with Long Island high school football.

    MSG Varsity’s big playoff weekend will feature live coverage of Friday night’s CHSFL AAA championship game between Stepinac and defending champion St. Anthony’s at 7 o’clock on Cablevision Channel 14. The unbeaten Friars (9-0) are going for their 10th league title in the last 11 years.
    The second game of the TV Friday night doubleheader will be a taped broadcast of the Garden City vs. Wantagh Nassau II title game, beginning at 10 p.m.
    Jimmy Cavallo (play-by-play) will be joined by former Giant Amani Toomer (color analyst) and Kelli Tennant (sideline reporter) for the live Stepinac vs. St. Anthony’s game at Mitchell Field. Carl Reuter (play-by-play) will be in the booth with former Giant Roman Oben (color analyst) for the Wantagh vs. Garden City game taped from Hofstra. Chad Cutler will be the sideline reporter.
    Long Island fans will also have the opportunity to see taped broadcasts of these championship games: East Rockaway vs. Roosevelt in Nassau IV (airing Saturda at 12:30 p.m.); Amityville vs. Glenn in Suffolk IV (airing Sunday at 12:30 p.m.); Plainedge vs. Lawrence in Nassau III (airing Monday at 4 p.m.); East Meadow vs. Freeport in Nassau I (airing Monday at 7:30 p.m.); Newfield vs. East Islip (airing Tuesday at 4 p.m.); Floyd vs. Sachem North in Suffolk I (airing Tuesday at 9 p.m.); Westhampton vs. Sayville in Suffolk III (airing Wednesday at 4 p.m.), and Kellenberg vs. Fordham Prep in CHSAA AA (airing Wednesday at 7:30 pm).
