High School Football
Newsday goes deep with Long Island high school football.
Some week for Farmingdale coach Buddy Krumenacker.
Krumenacker’s Dalers beat Valley Stream Central, 26-20, on Saturday to give the longtime coach his 200th career win. Wednesday the New York Jets announced that Krumenacker would be the recipient of the New York Jets High School Coach of the Week Award. The honor comes with $1,000 to benefit the Farmingdale football program and a certificate...Read more »
We're doing the live blog a little differently tonight. I'm sending you to my Twitter account, @CCMascaro, for live updates of the Freeport-Farmingdale matchup, kicking off in about 20 minutes.
The reason is two-fold. One, it'll keep you from reading the novel I generally write on the blog, and two, maybe it'll get me some more Twitter followers. It's a win-win....Read more »

"Oh, oh I want some more, oh, oh, what are you waiting for?" — "Animal" by Neon Trees.
At this time of year, every team has an animalistic instinct to hunt down its opponents and destroy them.
It's no fluke to advance to a county final. You've got to be good. And you've got to know how to win once you get here.
Farmingdale, a perennial power, showed...Read more »

When a game ends past 10 p.m., it doesn't leave much analysis for the newspaper. It's just the basics — who won, who had a good game and how did they score.
So you know that No. 3 Farmingdale (8-2) defeated No. 2 Oceanside (8-2), 42-20, last night at Hofstra's James M. Shuart Stadium in a Nassau Conference I semifinal. And that the Dalers will play top-seeded Freeport next Thursday in...Read more »

"You know we're superstars. We are who we are." — "We R Who We R" by Ke$ha.
Not going to lie, we here at the High School Football blog have a bit of a crush on Ke$ha. Actually, that's not completely true. I don't think Mr. Herzog knows who she is.
But me, yeah, I'm a fan. Or maybe it's just that I like to type the dollar sign where the "s" should be.
Either...Read more »
Farmingdale coach Buddy Krumenacker reiterated it all week — Friday night's game between Farmingdale and MacArthur wasn't the typical 3 vs. 6 conference quarterfinal.
He remembered the season-opener, when his Dalers, the preseason No. 1 seed in Conference I trailed 13-0 and 20-6 before earning a come-from-behind 31-26 win.
Farmingdale nearly suffered a much different fate last...Read more »
Every week you loyal bloggers come out to read about the best games Nassau County has to offer. But every game in the postseason is a good one! Well, at least the vast majority are.
So this week, I'm going on upset alert. In today's paper, Gregg Sarra, Andy Slawson, Bob Herzog, MSG Varsity's Carl Reuter and myself picked all 34 playoff games on the Island this weekend (16 Nassau, 16 Suffolk,...Read more »
