Conference IV

No. 1 Seaford (10-0) vs. No. 2 Roosevelt (9-1), 4 p.m. at Hofstra — First and foremost, this is a battle of running backs, as the Vikings' Justin Buckley (pictured, left) and the Rough Riders' Donte Colter are two of the best backs in the county

Buckley missed these teams' first meeting with a high right ankle sprain, but QB Chris Trotta, who was filling in for the injured Joe Kirincic, threw three first-half touchdown passes and Seaford held on for a 21-20 Week 7 win.

If the defending Long Island Class 4 champions want to extend their Conference IV winning streak to 43 games and overall streak to 23, they'll also need contributions from Buckley's understudies, Travis Langan and John Troisi.

In two playoff games, Seaford has outscored its opponents 69-7, including a 35-0 blanking of No. 4 North Shore last week. Buckley scored on runs of 1, 18 and 3 yards.

Colter was even more impressive in a 48-14 win over No. 3 East Rockaway last weekend, scoring on runs of 18, 5, 75 and 58 yards. He finished with 262 yards on 20 carries. He is complimented nicely in the backfield by quarterback Erin Parker, who acts as a second running back.

Colter is also a force on the defensive end, while Manny Jones and Teddy Santana do it all for the Rough Riders on both sides of the ball.

History lesson: Seaford is the three-time defending Conference IV champion. The Rough Riders won the 2006 title, for their third title in four years. One of these two teams has won 11 of the last 13 Conference IV finals. In that time, they have played each other just once, with Seaford earning a 21-14 win in 2008.

See ya'll at Hofstra tomorrow afternoon!
