Kenny Dunne recovered a fumble for Eastport-South Manor (5-0) midway through the second quarter of a Suffolk III football game yesterday and Matt Kane found Nick Garone on a screen pass a few plays later for a 67-yard touchdown in Eastport-South Manor's 37-13 win over Amityville. Garone made three catches for 133 yards, rushed for 121 yards on 16 carries and led the defense with 14 tackles. Amityville is 1-4.
Huntington 26, Deer Park 6: Infinite Tucker scored on a 36-yard run on the first play from scrimmage to give Huntington the lead in Suffolk II yesterday. The Blue Devils (2-3) scored in the closing minute of the first half on a 68-yard pass from Will Wright to Exzayvian Crowell on third-and-12. Tucker ran for 127 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries. Wright was 2-for-4 for 76 yards. Huntington limited Deer Park (4-1) to 51 yards of total offense in the second half. Tucker also led the defense with 12 tackles, including a sack. Teammate Max Polster added nine tackles.
Bethpage 43, Glen Cove 37: Tom Galgano had an interception at the 20 during the second overtime for Bethpage (4-1) on Saturday and Michael Carrello threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Sforza three plays later for the winning score in Nassau III. Galgano rushed eight times for 22 yards and two touchdowns. He also had six catches for 37 yards and a TD, plus two interceptions on defense. Teammate Anthony Sforza had 40 rushing yards and a touchdown on 20 carries and Nick Carlino led the defense with 12 tackles. Glen Cove is 3-2.Sachem North 25, Whitman 22: Steve Anacreon blocked a punt at the end of the first quarter Saturday, giving Sachem North (1-4) the ball at Whitman's 6-yard line. He ran it in from there to put his team up 14-0 in Suffolk I. Sachem North led 22-7 at the half. Anacreon had all three touchdowns and ran in a two-point conversion in the first half. He ran for 143 yards on 31 carries and teammate David McCarthy was 5-for-7 passing for 53 yards and an interception. Whitman is 1-4.
