Ruthman throws 6 TDs for Elmont

Aaron Ruthman completed 19 of 30 passes for 316 yards and six touchdowns to lead Elmont (2-0) in a 48-34 win over Carey in Nassau II Saturday.

After Carey’s Shaheem Taylor-White ran 80 yards for a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage, Elmont answered with a three-play, 65-yard drive that ended with Ruthman’s 34-yard touchdown pass to Sevin Malcolm (five receptions, 101 yards and two TDs). The Spartans forced a three-and-out on Carey’s next possession, and Joshua Milfort St. Cyr returned the punt 42 yards for touchdown that gave Elmont a 12-7 lead. The Spartans led 34-14 at halftime.

Long Beach 47, Mepham 45: Vincent Deale caught a 20-yard touchdown pass in the front right corner of the end zone from Sam Brown as time expired to complete a 70-yard, 30-second drive, lifting Long Beach (2-0). Mepham’s Michael Proios scored with 38 seconds left to put his team ahead by four before Long Beach got the ball with no timeouts remaining. A double-pass play netted the Marines 40 yards before another completed pass and spike put them on the 20 with six seconds left. Brown threw for 314 yards and five touchdowns. Tyreek Bromley rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. He also had 12 tackles.

MacArthur 20, Sewanhaka 14: Calvin Louie’s 2-yard touchdown run in overtime gave MacArthur the victory. Sewanhaka’s Lehman Clark caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Stefan Smith with 14 seconds left in regulation, then Clark’s two-point conversion tied the game. Benny Orlando had 118 yards on 20 carries for the Generals (1-1). A.J Lohmuller led MacArthur with 10 tackles and a sack in overtime.

Garden City 59, Manhasset 0: Colin Hart completed two-of-three passes for 70 yards and a touchdown and ran three times for 49 yards and a score for Garden City (2-0). Chris Mixon, who caught two passes for 52 yards, ran for two short touchdowns.

Calhoun 31, Herricks 0: Punter Andrew Santaniello landed two punts inside the 5-yard line, one leading to Tommy Cummings’ blocked punt and recovery for a touchdown for Calhoun (1-1). Cummings also had 14 carries for 104 yards with three touchdowns.

Bellmore JFK 44, Jericho 0: Dom Brocco ran 12 times for 143 yards and two touchdowns to lead Bellmore JFK (2-0). Brocco’s two touchdowns, Alec Deane’s 55-yard touchdown pass to Mike Papillo and Richard Draude’s 25-yard pick-six helped the Cougars take a 30-0 lead before halftime. James Delsignore had 11 tackles and a sack and Jack Jones had six tackles and two sacks.
