SOUTH SIDE’S PICKETT RULES

Johnny Pickett rushed for 212 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries to lead South Side to a 32-14 win over Roslyn in Nassau III Saturday. Shane Batyr completed 11 of 19 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown for South Side (1-1). Dan Riordan had two receptions for 29 yards and a TD and Joe Licalzi added seven receptions for 73 yards. Adam Combes completed 10 of 20 passes for 158 yards and two TDs for Roslyn (0-2). Omar Burns had three receptions for 86 yards and a score and Joe Cinque had three receptions for 45 yards and a TD.

Plainedge 39, Hewlett 21: Jake Esposito ran for 201 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries, and Anthony Patino had 39 yards on 10 carries and four touchdowns for Plainedge (1-1). The Red Devils trailed 21-18 early in the third, but Pantino and Esposito ran for scores of one and three yards, respectively, in the quarter to enter the fourth with a 32-21 lead. Jake Lanasa returned an interception 42 yards for the game’s final score in the fourth quarter. Defensive end Nyko Anatrella had 10 tackles, five for losses.

New Hyde Park 35, Glen Cove 12: Steven Chambers scored five first-half touchdowns to carry New Hyde Park (1-1) to a 35-0 halftime lead. He ran five times for 75 yards and three scores, and caught three passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns in the first half. Chambers also intercepted a pass and returned it 85 yards but did not get into the end zone. His first score came on a 65-yard pass from Nick Pelligrino, who completed all three of his passes for 93 yards. They connected again toward the end of the first for a 20-yard touchdown pass. Brian Hoerter had 11 tackles.

Wantagh 31, Lynbrook 0: The Wantagh defense had six interceptions, led by two first-quarter pick-sixes by Tom Rohan (35 yards) and Anthony D’Onofrio (30 yards). Sean Colbert and Joe Valenti combined for 21 tackles. Gavin Casey had 62 yards on nine carries, including an 8-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to give Wantagh a 24-0 lead. Jake Castellano and D’Onofrio connected on an 18-yard TD in the third quarter.
