ABOUT THE QUAKERS: With several of their top tacklers back, including linebackers Rossi (41 tackles), Zach Sideris (34) and Chapman, the defense could take a step forward this year. Perkins, who had 550 yards rushing and 13 total TDs, is back with Constants and Rechler to run the spread offense. Skyler Zaken will help lead an experienced offensive line.

ABOUT THE BLAZERS: Nasimi (800 yds, 6 TDs), Torres (500 yds, 4 TDs) and newcomer Cohen will lead what figures to be an impressive ground attack. Kahen, who also had 65 tackles while playing linebacker, will compete with Tyler Weiss for time at quarterback. Sarraf had four interceptions last season and returns to lead a more experienced defense.

ABOUT THE REBELS: Agagi (6 TDs), Lee, Giovanniello, Lanzilotta and Alexander Lin lead an experienced group of offensive players for Great Neck South, which averaged 29 points per game over its final four contests last season. Newcomers Anthony Pena, at running back, and Mitchell Peng, at wide receiver, add depth. Henry will pace an athletic 5-2 defense.

ABOUT THE JAYHAWKS: With all of the team's skill players returning, including Green, who threw seven touchdown passes last season, and Ryan Condon, Jericho's offense could take off this season. Donovan Condon and Shapiro will give Green two excellent options to hand off and pass to. Gerome leads a solid group in the trenches.

ABOUT THE CRUSADERS: Walters and Seger will provide leadership for a Lutheran team that lost 16 seniors. Benz -- one of two sophomores to start last season -- helps pace the offense with McCoy, who ran for 149 yards as a freshman.

ABOUT THE VIKINGS: Port Washington returns all of its skill position players, including Burns (973 yards passing) and Ginnusa (682 yards rushing), to what could be an explosive offense. Top pass rusher Jermain Brown leads the defense, along with Granger and newcomers Johnny Nahas and Mark Livshin.

ABOUT THE BULLDOGS: Roslyn has an impressive group of seniors, led by Epprecht, Snipes, Fishbach and Rogoofsky, who are looking to build off an impressive second half in 2012. The Bulldogs won three of their last five games last season, including their final two by a margin of 89-26.
