Pryor, Patriots roll

Dominic Pryor had five catches for 57 yards and one touchdown along with a crucial pass breakup as Ward Melville (3-4) defeated Connetquot, 35-7, in Suffolk I football Friday night. The Ward Melville defense shut out Connetquot in the first three quarters, avenging a 41-40 playoff loss last season.

“Even before the season started,” said coach Chris Boltrek, “I think this game was circled on the calender for the kids that this was one they really wanted.”

Zach Hobbes had a 50-yard interception return and led the defense with six tackles and a sack. Eddie Munoz scored three TDs — two rushing, one receiving — and had nearly 100 total yards.

Longwood 51, Northport 20: Latrell Horton rushed for 159 yards on 14 carries and three touchdowns to lead Longwood (4-3). Jake Murphy added 17 rushes for 157 yards and a score, Andy Martinez had one rush for 40 yards and a touchdown and David Perez had one rush for 48 yards and a score as the Lions ran for 404 yards. Jalen Hunter tallied 15 tackles, including six for a loss and a blocked extra point.

Whitman 13, Brentwood 7: Matt Havekotte broke up a pass on fourth-and-10 at the Brentwood 35 with three minutes remaining for Whitman (4-3). Terron Robinson ran for a 3-yard touchdown for Whitman in the second quarter and on the ensuing kickoff, a Whitman squib kick ended up hitting off a Brentwood player and skidded into the end zone, which Vincent Pastore dove on for the touchdown.
