The 3 Stars for Friday 3/2:

Brianna Thomas (above) had 19 points and made a game-changing steal and took it back for a basket to give No. 3 St. John the Baptist a 5-point lead with 53 seconds lead, as the Cougars defeated No. 2 Holy Trinity 49-42 in the NSCHSAA semifinals at St. Dominic.

Tamara Simpson had 31 points and eight rebounds for No. 2 Portledge which fell to No. 6 Poly Prep 53-46  in the semifinals of the NYSAIS Tournament.

Kesi Goree had 31 points for Southampton in a 61-59 loss to Riverhead in the Suffolk overall final at Farmingdale State.
