The 3 Stars for Wednesday 2/29:

Alexandra Cantwell (above) scored 13 points and had three steals in the final 1:30 to seal a 61-54 win for No. 1 North Shore over No. 5 Floral Park in the Nassau Class A semifinals.

Amanda Johansen had 19 points including 11 during a 19-2 run from late in the third into early in the fourth quarter of North Shore’s win.

Junior Shanice Allen (above) had 24 points, including the 1,000th of her career, as No. 3 Riverhead defeated No. 4 Hauppauge 60-52 in the Suffolk Class AA championship.

After losing the first game of the season, Riverhead hasn’t lost since. The Blue Waves had a goal of winning a county championship with a core that has been together for a few seasons and their aspirations came to fruition tonight in a 60-52 win over Hauppauge in the Suffolk Class AA finals.

The 3 Stars for Saturday 2/25:

Senior Melodee Riley (above) had a career-high 28 points to lead No. 3 Riverhead to a 66-51 win over No. 2 Lindenhurst in the Suffolk Class AA semifinals.

Lindsay Alfano had 14 points, including a 3-pointer with 43 seconds left to put No. 4 Hauppauge ahead by three and the Eagles held on to defeat No. 1 Sachem East 47-45 in the Suffolk Class AA semifinals.

Paige Kriftcher set to return

It was Senior Night at Long Island Lutheran tonight and Paige Kriftcher got a surprise. She was in the starting lineup in LuHi’s 66-59 win over Mary Louis.

Kriftcher, a senior guard, has been out since Jan. 9 with a torn left MCL. She started the game and was removed after 31 seconds and didn’t return.
