Finally! A wireless connection. Got to give props to C.W. Post as I'll bring you live coverage of today's NSCHSAA semifinals in what should be two good games. We're about 10 minutes from tip-off for the first game as No. 2 St. John the Baptist takes on No. 3 St. Anthony's. The teams split two close games during the regular season.

FIRST QUARTER: It's the Christine Bosco show so far. She has six points to start the game as SJB leads 6-0 with 6:24 left in the first quarter. The Friars just had a possession where they got several offensive rebounds, but missed easy looks.

After falling behind 8-0, St. Anthony's is within 8-5. Rebecca Musgrove went 1-for-3 from the line to get the Friars on the board and Micky Impellizeri scored followed by Maggie Bill scoring on a drive to make it 8-5. It's midway through the first quarter.

Alexis Smith and Anastasia Williams each have two fouls for SJB.

Mimi Lizza scored on a drive to pull the Friars within 8-7 with 40 seconds left. Williams scored on a putback with 24 seconds left to give SJB a 10-7 lead.

The defense has been strong on both sides. Teams have had to work hard for looks at the basket and that could explain why both teams missed some good looks. The Friars defense has picked up after a slow start.

END OF FIRST QUARTER: St. John the Baptist 10, St. Anthony's 7

SECOND QUARTER: Williams was called for an offensive foul and that's her third of the game with 7:35 left. She is out of the game. Lizza scored on a runner to pull the Friars within 10-9 before Alexis Smith scored on a three-point play. Micky Impellizeri scored on a jumper before Bosco, now with nine points, nailed a three-pointer. SJB leads 16-11 with 5:34 left in the first half.

A nice pass from Kamala Thompson to a cutting Brianna Thomas makes it 18-11. Jo Impellizeri hit two free throws for the Friars and Thomas goes 1-for-2 from the foul line as SJB leads 19-13 with 4:17 left.

Symone Kelly picked up her third foul for the Friars with 3:43 left and she is on the bench.

A drive by Musgrove, a basket by Jo Impellizeri and a three-pointer by Shannon White capped a 7-0 run Friars run to get them within 21-20 with 1:48 left.

Alexis Smith has left the game with an apparent eye injury.

The Friars closed the half strong. After White's three-pointer, Musgrove scored on a drive to the basket to cap a 9-0 run to end the first half. At halftime, St. Anthony's leads, 22-21.

The Friars have rebounded from a slow start. The last two times these teams met, the Friars were crushed on the boards. They have done a much better job rebounding, especially on the offensive side.

The Cougars really turn on the pressure defense in big spots, so that is something to watch in the second half. Bosco leads SJB with nine points and Smith has five. As usual, the scoring is balanced for the Friars, Musgrove leads with five, Lizza has four, as do Jo Impellizeri and Micky Impellizeri.

THIRD QUARTER: Alexis Smith is back in to start the half. Kelly has four fouls. She is back in the bench with 5:48 left. The lead has changed hands a few times already. Williams just scored to give SJB a 27-25 lead. That's the score with 4:20 left in the third.

Smith has picked up her third foul with 2:55 left. The she scored on a drive on the offensive end for a 30-26 SJB lead. Smith has five points in the quarter. The Friars have one field goal in the quarter with 2:22 left.

Lizza scored on a drive, as did Bill and Micky Impellizeri blocked a shot and fed Lizza for a fastbreak layup with 36 seconds left for a 6-0 run.

END OF THREE: St. Anthony's 32, St. John the Baptist 30

Kelly is back in the game for SA and she scores to give the Friars a 37-36 lead with 4:24 left.

Smith scored on a drive and then she fed Thomas for a basket with 2:44 left as SJB has taken a 40-37 lead.

Musgrove scores to pull the Friars within 40-39 with 2:13 left. Bill misses the first shot of a one-and-one with 1:14 left and then Bosco hit a jumper with 1:04 left for a 42-39 lead. SJB has the ball and calls a timeout with 48 seconds left and 23 on the shot clock.
