North Shore topped Wantagh, 71-55, in the Wantagh Sports Booster Club championship game last night behind tournament MVP Caroline Robertson's 16 points and 10 rebounds. Alexandra Cantwell finished with 17 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

North Shore's defense carried Vikings to victory, according to coach Keith Freund. "We had three girls with five or more steals in this game," he said. "This team has a real passion for defense and really enjoys getting after teams. We pressed the whole game and were able to convert a lot of steals."

Tara Feehan scored a career-high 10 points and sank three three-pointers, one of which put North Shore (2-0) up by 20 with four minutes remaining that "really sealed the deal for us," said Freund. He also highlighted the energetic play of Erin Sheerin, who ended the night with seven points, seven rebounds and five steals.

"It was a hard fought game for us," said Freund. "Wantagh is tough as can be. The people in the stands got a real good show. There's a lot of boring basketball out there so hats off to both teams."
