All playoff girls and boys basketball games planned for Thursday were postponed and moved to the coming days as heavy snowfall and school closings again took their toll on local schedules.

Games in Nassau will be played Saturday, according to Section VIII athletic executive director Nina Van Erk. Suffolk games were moved to Friday, pending upcoming weather, per Section XI executive director Ed Cinelli.

Eight Nassau boys basketball games had to be moved and four girls basketball games. In Suffolk, 10 girls games will be rescheduled and three boys games. No other sports were planned for Thursday.

Brackets for Nassau have been updated on the BOCES athletics website, while Cinelli encouraged parents and students to check sectionxi.org later Thursday night for up-to-date information. Cinelli and Kevin O'Reilly, the girls basketball chairman and Brentwood athletic director, said the times of the games will most definitely change for at least some schools to avoid scheduling conflicts.

"We're making plans and moving everything and we'll be updating the time then," Cinelli said. O'Reilly added that those interested should check the site after 10 p.m., once athletic directors have had time to convene and make a final decision.
